       December 2009 :-
        As from 1st January 2010 a legalised copy of the Trade Mark     
        registration in the country of origin is required by the Trade          
        Marks Office.
        The legalisation must be up-to the Libyan Consulate.

       Updated  7th July 2004 :-

       The Trade Marks Office of the Secretariat of Economy & Commerce has
            issued an announcement regarding the old Trade Marks filed prior  to June 2003 .
       Here are the main points :-
       Owners of  previous Trade Marks are advised to approach the Trade Marks
            Office in to finalise the status of their Marks providing the following :-
               a) A copy of  the official filing receipt.
               b) Fees paid receipt.
               c) A complete dossier containing an application to the effect of finalising
                            the status of the Mark, Certificate of Incorporation of the applicant
                            certified up to the Libyan consulate.
               d) A legalised up to the Libyan Consulate Power of Attorney appointing
                         a LIBYAN citizen to represent the applicant .
               e) (10) prints of the Mark .
               f)  A grace of 6 months starting 1st July 2004 till 31 December 2004
                            is hereby given to the owners to apply after which no attention
                            will be given to any applications.
               g) All documents must be translated into Arabic by an authorised  Libyan
                             translator.

            Updated 18th March 2004 :-

           The Trade Marks Office of the Secretariat of Economy & Commerce
           is conducting Trade Marks Searches now. We have been informed that
           the search results will be done within 7 days

            Updated 28th December 2003 :-

           The Trade Marks Office of the Secretariat of Economy & Commerce
           has  informed us that they will  ONLY  accept Power  of Attorney   WITHOUT
           any headings whatsoever.

           So we are obliged to reject any Power of Attorney written with heading and we will
          ONLY accept Power of Attorneys downloadable from :-

          Updated 2nd July 2003  :-

          New requirements for filing a Trade Mark Application  :-

          1) A legalised ( up to the Libyan Consulate )  Power of Attorney in the
                    form mentioned  below.

          2) A legalised and  translated into Arabic ( up to the Libyan Consulate)
                   a recent Certificate of Incorporation of the applicant.

          3) 10 prints of the mark.

                4)  A list of goods of the Trade Mark.

         5) A copy of the Trade Mark  Certificate of Registration in the country of origin.

       has commenced  accepting new applications for filing of trade marks.

       Updated   January 14th 2003 :-

          1) Due to “ force majeure “ pertaining to Trade Marks matters filed
                    between early 1980  and August 2002, we Highly advise Trade Marks
                    owners to seriously consider re-applying for filing of their Trade
                    Marks in Libya.

         2) Please note that we ONLY accept Power of Attorney bearing the
                  heading of our office.
